I love Disney more than your average person does. Sure, Walt Disney’s work is treasured by practically everyone, but I like to think I live for Disney even more. One of the best things about Disney movies is the music. I’m especially fond of the music from cartoon movies made throughout the 1960s.
This week, we lost Robert B. Sherman, part of a musical duo that wrote masterpieces for Disney movies such as, The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, The Sword in the Stone, and The Aristocats. He also wrote the too-catchy delight, “It’s A Small World.” Sherman also wrote the music for the musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which happens to be one of my favorite musicals.
I will miss this amazing composer and to celebrate his life’s work, below are a sampling of some of my favorites from his archives:
Apparently Dick Van Dyke and Robert Sherman worked great together!
